I would not recommend just drafting. It isn't lucrative. Jobs are scarce since the development industry went downhill using the recession. Designers are less inclined to hire anybody who is not a designer or architect intern. In addition, I am of the opinion that freelance drafting is one thing that never really flourished. It isn't a typical practice. It was not ever and most likely won't be. Become a freelancer is a fairly thought, though. Have you ever heard from the website "Small House Blog"? Contrary, why don't you be a designer/builder? Begin a business. So far as I understand, structures of the character do not require the press from a designer.
